Tiltrotator not convinced

Anyone look at AF decom site? I see some of the bigger Scandinavian Civil contractors are using them quite extensively in their fleets...

Too late for me to edit my post but I will start a new one.
I think the Scandinavians tend to manufacture more of the specialist stuff.I know some of the concrete cutting guys have some very special stuff from that part of the world.I suppose it`s natural for them to have a bigger penetration of the home market as opposed to export markets.
I notice they have increased the tilt angle on the tiltrotators to 45 degrees.I have a catalogue from the last Black Isle show I was at (2008?) and it`s shown as 40 degrees tilt in that.

Do owners charge for engcons as an addition to hire rate on the same basis as a breaker ?

I dont think they do for the item as such .. but you would be well entitled to charge more for your service due to your better work rate , precision and increased professional ability

I have been landscaping at home with my duck and mini digger the last few weekends and I managed to get it finished today. Some steep banks and slopes and a remote path in a woodland setting . When I was done I was very pleased with the results however while I was doing the steep bits I couldn't help but think of Eddie and how easy and quick it looked with the engcon and at that point from purely an operators point of view If I had the money I would of been writing the cheque.
The point about the Scandinavians use of kit is a good one They often tend to go for specialist kit where quite often in the uk we tend to get by with what we have. Forestry mounding is a good example of this , in Scandinavian countries they use specialist mounders where we tend to hinge mound with excavators.

After seeing how the engcon is used there is no doubting that it is a very good piece of kit .
That then means the decision to buy one would be based on wether or not it will pay for itself.
If doing general hire work, an increase in rate would be necessary unless you felt that having one attached would ensure more hire or longer hire and the outlay could be swallowed this fact.

Can anyone on the forum with an engcon or tiltrotator tell me how they intend to cover the outlay?

some of my customers would want the machine to build blocks and fire nail guns before they would consider paying more!

Yes I know the problem .. and there are always clients I will walk away from as they are nothing but trouble .. but there are others that recognise my increased productivity, and the fact that I can save their men from hours of labour by my machine work, in addition the the usual machine duties, and they 'do' pay a better rate
