So I made the big trip no problem, took a little longer than I expected to find some work but up until last week we had nothing but rain as some of you may have heard on the news about the flooding in Banff, Canmore, High River, and Calgary. But when it wasn't raining I spent some time running a John Deere 650DLC excavator, 350D LC, and a 450C LC. I've mostly been working on a what they call a 'pre-grade' job for an industrial/commercial subdivision stripping topsoil, bulk earthmoving etc. After we are done a sewer and water crew will move in and 'plumb' the job with storm, sanitary, and water lines. Finally roads will be built, paved and buildings can be constructed. Really this is just a stepping stone to build up my beleaguered bank account and find some work that will carry me through the winter....

Well I've never been that far away from them as I've run machines up to 80 tonne size....so just consider the last few years as a prolonged hiatus. But I really don't care how big the machine is as long as it's in good shape and has air conditioning and heat. lol Really what I'd ideally like for myself is an 8 tonner similar to Ian's Hitachi and a tracked skid-steer with a few attachments.

Yeah we still have the house in Manitoba my wife is still at home she just finished teaching for the summer at the moment current plans are that I'll go home for a few days in late August. I am trying to find some work in Saskatchewan though in the oil patch so I don't have to be so far away.
