If its because you're going round a corner with walls at track height, I usually put the blade in front of me. If its a general width problem, there shouldn't be an issue because the blade isnt any wider than any part of the digger ?
To take it off you would need to remove the two pins at the end of each arm, and I would expect them to quite tight to come off as they rarely get greased, then you will need to take the pin out of the dozer ram, disconnect the hydraulic pipes and cap them off.
