Looking for a duck of my own!

Got some work around my house and some other stuff coming up soon, and with a little jealousy and inspiration by a certain forum member I just gotta get my own duck..

Thought it would be wise and handy with some consultation with you guys.

Atm im looking at an Atlas 1004 with a rotortilt and two buckets included. It's almost at 9000 hours, but it fits my budget pretty good. Got good deal of new parts too..

Anyone got any experience with these machines specifically? And about them hours.. whatya think?? For someone used to tracked hoes it sure sounds like a lot, but at the same time it looks well handled.

A nice tool though all the same and Atlas are known for longevity .... looked after

At the risk of being impertinent ... what sort of budget are we talking roughly ..... I found I had to up mine to get what I wanted .... paid dividends though ..... as for what to buy ...... well I am somewhat biased

Many Atlas products never really sold well here in the UK .. but I know of a few specialist operators who really rated those ducks very highly, and made good fortune and incomes from knowing how to operate them well. The same gentlemen were never out of work as such.. their abilities were well sought after I cant comment as to the specific reasons for their preference of them however

I didn't 'clock' that you were in Norway ..... thought your domicile was one of the other countries in the Scandy region ...... not so easy importing there ... the NOK is well down ATM and as you say ... some pretty draconian reg.s to meet for importation .... do you have to have it cert.ed for private use ???

As discussed .... the tilty looks to have seen some action .... might not even have been new, but on its second machine???? plus tidy machines do not hang about long on Finn I'd be very enthusiastic about that ..... at the price shame the SMP is button op though ... Old Skool !! ... could be modified if you have a spare Prop service to run it, with some cetop3 solenoid valves and some plumbing

Nah, dont need certed for private use, but a machine can get impossible to sell later if it's not. It's all about the declaration of conformity, if thats not in check you can buy a lot of trouble here..

Had a short mail chat with the seller yesterday evening. The tilty sure has seen som action, but have been picked to pieces and refitted with all new bolt and pins. It has also been welded on at some point, tilt cylinders brackets. The downside as stated by druid is that it's button operated non propotional. But it aint too bad!

I still like the look of this Atlas though, but my biggest concern on the SMP would be pinion/crown wheel wear ...... not cheap to replace

er ..... yes and no ....... it does't always seem to be the case on Finn .... it has to be said .... it's a tidy m/c for what it is .... but that tilty really does need serious examination to make the price worthy of where it's set, for sure.

Made a final decition today. And that is to save up further, so I can up my budget by about 1/3.. This really opens up my options. Maybe not on lower hours, but model and technology/equipment. But will be on the look out in the meanwhile ofc ;)
