Found this along the road a little while ago by an automotive bodyshop of all places. lol All I know about are what you see in the photos, like the International chassis, and Waukesha gasoline motor. There hasn't been much conversation on here the past few days so I'll try to start some.

Lol they use to be pretty common at one time in North America now you just see them rusting away in places like this. But in some ways its no wonder as they often just used regular off-the-shelf truck chassis so the only way you had to move the truck was by pushing with the boom and bucket. Where as with the American Gradall telescopic boom excavators you have a control in the cab that allows you to move around including steering the chassis with the operator in the excavator cab.

Lol! Good one Bruce but I have put some thought into getting a wheeled machine and the other day I came across a thread on HEF a bloke in England that wants a mobile excavator unit like the one I posted....but a little more modern another fella posted this machine. Here's a copy of the thread kind of an interesting topic really.

I suppose it would make sense for a specialist road way contractor ? .... but its off road ability would surely be minimal , and its a pain in the ass lifting jacks and turning round to travel in a 180 deg backhoe ... that thing would be a nightmare jumping in and out of BOTH cabsPlease don't PM me for plant advice.. thanks .. Yeah you would be limited to where you can go, I know if it I had to do it I'd be using a tandem axle truck with 6 wheel drive but I would want it setup like a Gradall truck mount where you can move the carrier around from the operator's cab.
You can see in this video how you can move the machine around the jobsite from the excavator cab.
