This is the challenge .. due to the limitations of power, the cross axe must be removeable so that if its a big log of 12" plus .. only the vertical head is in use. The small pre cutter at the base of mine has helped destroy some serious wood ! ... and its about to get its biggest challenge yet, as I think I'm about to acquire an old chestnut tree which will be about 24" at its base atleast .. maybe I should build a side loader as well

Here is another question .. I'm going to have to organise a valve assembly for the rig .. I liked that one on one of your vids Stock that had a return detent, so that when the ram was stroked home, the valve flicked off ? what do you call that type of block ?

                        And now for some kindlers

                        IMG_2929[1].jpgIMG_2930[1].jpgIMG_2931[1].jpg

Theres a lot more to this than meets the eye .. the angle of the blades and direction of the knife edges are critcal to prevent 'choking'. Plus you need to know what pushing power you are working with to know how big you can make your 'blades'. Then you need to know what type of wood it will cope with, how many knots etc etc ... more to follow ... Ive learned also that one way to prevent choking is to off set your blades, slightly behind or in front of each other, not that Ive done that here ...
