. What about the poor buggers sitting in the machines that the radio waves are emitted from .Their hat hats would drive them mad .
I am so glad i don't have to dance to that tune . Viva!!!! rough as guts construction.
Hard hat buzzer to save lives on site Major contractors are introducing a new safety system which warns workers when they are in danger via a buzzer in their hard hats. The My Zone worker alert sounds a warning when workers get near heavy plant or other potential dangers on site.
The alarm is fitted inside hard hats and creates an “exclusion zone” around workers. When site machinery fitted with the system’s transmitters gets near a worker it triggers a warning buzz from the hard hat alarm. Balfour Beatty and John Sisk have already adopted MyZone and it has now been made mandatory on a large MoD site run by logistics specialist Wilson James. Tony Palombo, Wilson James’ Director of Operations (Construction), said: “The only complaint I ever receive about it – and it’s a consistent one – is from workers who don’t have it. “Its simple modular design of transmitters along with Hard Hat mounted receivers which work out at less than 35p a day each, make MyZone an affordable addition in enhancing existing site safety procedures.” Duncan Aspin, Regional Manager at Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering said: “I was involved in the initial trials of this technology and it was clear that it was highly successful in addressing one of the most serious risks on a construction site – that of heavy plant working in close proximity to individual workers. ” I like the fact that it tackles issues where accidents are caused by people day-dreaming or ‘switching off’. “MyZone tackles this problem in a way that no other proximity warning system on the market appears to do, by alerting the individual into taking evasive action themselves, rather than relying solely on the actions of the plant operator to avoid personal injury.” Sisk has already adopted MyZone on two sites. Anthony Greene, Senior Site Manager for the Major Project Division, said: ”The MyZone system is an excellent addition to the PPE already worn on sites. “All of our construction workers have welcomed the additional safety element it provides and we will definitely carry on using it.”
So , What about workers that work with the machines ,Do they have a buzzing in their ears all day ,and then get to ignore it when it needs to save their life .
