Hey those are some great photos love to see more including that stuck D4 or D5. What model is that excavator? I've honestly never seen an excavator that small with a mass excavator arrangement.

That's interesting I spent quite a few years running Cat 320's right from the plain 'L' to the newish 'D' series. But the machines here are always at least 32" pads with either a GP boom and stick or we call it a long boom and long stick. I guess it just threw me off I thought I was looking at a 315 or 318. lol I imagine your tours in Iraq and Afghanistan were real eye openers? Oh just curious but when you were in Suffield did you get to work any of the tank based engineer vehicles?
Getting a bit technical for me there haha! I just pull the levers! However im sure ill learn more as time goes on, We do use wheeled 318's though. Ive used the Engineering tanks with the excavator arms on them in germany and in suffield! Fantastic bits of kit
That excavator pictured is mainly the only one ive worked on but as far as i am aware the defence spec does have a longer reach arm!
I once in a while pick up a copy of Military Machines magazine and one issue I picked up had that Challenger II with the excavator arm on it, I was just curious if they let you run one of them and what it's like. But it looks like you guys get to have some fun playing with all that equipment.
Look up the "Trojan engineer tank" on google and im sure its the one your thinking off! Its a specialist trade but one of the better ones. An Excavator Tank hybrid can only ever be a great thing hah!
